JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy announced the establishment of Public Utility Committees in the Mango Municipal Corporation and JNAC areas. The initiative aims to address local issues, including water, electricity, roads, drainage, and waste management, with active community participation.
Open to All Citizens
Roy emphasized that committee members could belong to any political party or remain unaffiliated. He invited residents with a thorough understanding of local issues to join these committees and contribute to solutions. “Anyone willing to work towards resolving community problems is welcome,” he stated during a press conference.
Call for Stringent Budgeting
Addressing broader governance concerns, Roy urged the state’s finance minister to focus on a pragmatic and stringent budget rather than a populist one. “The government has a strong mandate. It should prioritize effective fund allocation and expenditure,” he said. Roy criticized the inefficiency in budget utilization, highlighting that funds were being surrendered prematurely, impacting the state’s economy.
Administrative Accountability Needed
Roy stressed the need for stronger administrative mechanisms to ensure proper fund utilization. He suggested that ministers and departmental secretaries be held accountable for unspent funds. “The government should not only ensure that money is spent but also measure its impact,” he added. Roy expressed concern over the lack of transparency and efficiency in the current system.
