He was apprehended near a Shiv Temple in the NH-33 area of Ulidih after evading capture for several days. A locally made pistol and live ammunition, believed to be the weapon used in the crime, were recovered during the arrest.
The arrest follows the November 15 incident, where Tony Singh was fatally shot near Uma Tiffin in Ulidih. Another individual, Vishnu Tudu, sustained injuries in the attack. Investigations revealed that three accused—Avinash Singh, Uttam Mandal, and Nitesh Pandey—had already surrendered. However, the weapon used had remained undiscovered until now.

The City Superintendent of Police stated that the department formed a special task force led by Patamda DSP and DSP Headquarters-1. The team’s efforts led to the arrest of Mohanty, who reportedly hid the weapon at the instruction of Avinash Singh. This arrest is part of an ongoing effort to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the crime.
