SERAIKELA – A horrific crime has shaken the Seraikela region as a young woman’s mutilated body was discovered along the Kharkai River, near Radha Swami Satsang.
Police were alerted to the scene, where the woman appeared to have been dragged about 50 meters before being bludgeoned to death with a stone. Superintendent of Police Sameer Savaiya and Officer Satish Barnwal led a team to investigate the area.
Early findings point to gang rape followed by murder. Nearby, officers found alcohol bottles and potency drugs, heightening suspicions of multiple assailants. Villagers in the vicinity were questioned, but no one recognized the victim.
The lack of identification has hampered efforts to notify family members. Authorities believe the incident occurred recently, given the condition of the body and evidence at the scene.
This crime highlights ongoing issues of violence against women in the region. Local NGOs have called for stricter enforcement and community vigilance to prevent such atrocities. Meanwhile, police continue to gather leads to apprehend those responsible.
