SERAIKELA – Three individuals, including two women, lost their lives in separate drowning incidents in Seraikela.
The first tragedy unfolded at Jagannath Temple Ghat.
Ashish Kamila was taking his morning bath in Kharkai River.
The 32-year-old suffered from epilepsy.
Meanwhile, local BJP leader Sanad Acharya coordinated rescue efforts.
The water depth was surprisingly shallow at 1.5 feet.
However, an epileptic seizure likely caused the incident.
Moreover, drowning incidents spike during summer months in Jharkhand.
In 2023, the state recorded over 200 drowning deaths.
The second incident occurred at Pandra village pond.
Two women were bathing when one slipped into deep water.
The other woman attempted a rescue.
Unfortunately, both women succumbed to drowning.
Furthermore, local villagers tried their best to save them.
The police arrived promptly at both locations.
Additionally, all bodies underwent postmortem at Sadar Hospital.
"Water safety awareness is crucial in rural areas," noted a local official.
Besides, the district has now increased surveillance at water bodies.
