Swift Operation Leads to Arrest of Six Suspects, Recovery of 302 Stolen Phones Worth ₹60 Lakh

JAMSHEDPUR – RPF Kharagpur’s Operation Yatri Suraksha successfully dismantled an interstate mobile phone smuggling ring, leading to six arrests and significant recoveries.

The operation unfolded on the East Coast Express train. Alert lady RPF personnel spotted suspicious behavior in Coach A2. The suspects tried concealing their bags from view.

Moreover, a thorough search revealed three bags filled with stolen phones. Two initial suspects were apprehended during the journey.

"The gang had an elaborate network spanning multiple states," revealed a senior RPF official.

Meanwhile, the suspects confessed to their courier roles. They received ₹15,000 per transport assignment.

In addition, RPF teams swiftly acted on the intelligence gathered. Four more gang members were caught near Kharagpur station.

The operation yielded substantial recoveries. These included 302 mobile phones and ₹3.91 lakh cash.

Furthermore, the team seized a grey Maruti Ertiga car. The total value exceeded ₹60 lakh.

The arrested individuals came from diverse backgrounds. Their ages ranged from 28 to 47 years.

Besides, this operation marks a significant achievement. RPF has been intensifying its anti-smuggling efforts recently.

On the other hand, railway crimes have seen a decline. RPF’s vigilance has increased passenger safety.

The case now rests with GRPS Kharagpur. Further investigations are ongoing.
