Key Points:

* First phase turnout reaches 64.86%, higher than 2019’s 63.9% in Jharkhand polls

* Peaceful polling in LWE areas including Budha Pahad’s first-time voting station

* 683 candidates contest for 43 seats with JMM-Congress alliance facing BJP-led NDA

RANCHI – Jharkhand’s first phase assembly elections witnessed robust voter participation with a 64.86% turnout across 43 constituencies.

The Election Commission reported successful completion of voting operations across 15 districts.

Moreover, tribal communities demonstrated strong democratic participation despite challenging circumstances.

However, the historic moment came from Budha Pahad region, where residents voted at their local station for the first time.

Meanwhile, West Singhbhum constituents defied extremist intimidation to exercise their franchise.

"The enthusiasm among first-time voters has been particularly inspiring today," remarked a senior journalist.

Furthermore, comprehensive security measures ensured smooth polling processes.

In addition, webcasting coverage extended to all polling stations for enhanced transparency.

On the other hand, the electoral battle primarily features JMM-Congress coalition against BJP-led NDA.

Besides, RJD has positioned candidates in five constituencies, including two seats alongside Congress.
