Baharagora Assembly Seat Heats Up as JMM May Drop Samir Mohanty

JMM Likely to Replace MLA Samir Mohanty with Kunal Sarangi for Baharagora, marking a major shift ahead of the elections.

Key Points:

– JMM is all Set to drop Samir Mohanty from Baharagora Assembly seat, citing weakened support.

– Kunal Sarangi, former JMM leader, returns and, in all probability, is set to be the party’s candidate.

– BJP fields Dr. Dineshanand Goswami for Baharagora, making it a key battleground.

JAMSHEDPUR – The political landscape in the Baharagora Assembly seat, part of the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency, has dramatically shifted after Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is considering the option to drop sitting MLA Samir Mohanty from its candidate list.

Mohanty, who had previously contested the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat for JMM but lost, may be dropped after reports indicated declining support in his constituency.

In a bold move, JMM, in all likelihood, may decide to reinstate Kunal Sarangi, a former party member who had switched to the BJP in 2019 but lost in the assembly elections.

Sarangi, who recently met with JMM’s working president and Chief Minister Hemant Soren, is now expected to be the party’s candidate for Baharagora.

Meanwhile, the BJP has confirmed Dr. Dineshanand Goswami as its candidate for the seat, setting the stage for a fierce contest.

Alongside this shift, JMM is also likely to field former BJP minister Louis Marandi from Jama, and Ganesh Mahali from Saraikela, both of whom recently joined the party.

Additionally, reports suggest that JMM is planning to give a ticket to BJP’s Chunna Singh from Sarath.

These four major decisions are expected to be formally announced soon, reshaping the election dynamics in these constituencies.
