Political Reset Likely Ahead of Jharkhand Assembly Polls

First phase on Nov 13, second on Nov 20; results on Nov 23

Key Points:

• Jharkhand to vote in two phases: Nov 13 and Nov 20

• Results to be announced on November 23

• Parties finalizing candidate lists amidst defection fears

JAMSHEDPUR – Jharkhand gears up for its upcoming assembly elections, with voting scheduled across two phases in November.

The Election Commission has set November 13 for the first phase of voting.

The second phase will follow on November 20, with results expected on November 23.

Political parties are ramping up preparations as the election dates draw near.

The nomination process for the first phase is set to begin on October 18.

Meanwhile, uncertainty looms over candidate selections across party lines.

Both the NDA and INDIA alliance are expected to reveal their candidate lists soon.

However, the specter of defection haunts party leaders as announcements approach.

The BJP is reportedly close to finalizing its list of candidates.

"We anticipate announcing 25 to 30 nominees in the first round," a party insider revealed.

Nevertheless, internal tensions are brewing within the BJP ranks.

Rumors suggest that about two dozen sitting MLAs might be excluded from the list.

This potential move has sparked concerns about possible defections to rival parties.

On the other hand, the JMM, Congress, and AJSU are also facing similar pressures.

Leaders fearing ticket denial are reportedly exploring options with other parties.

"Some MLAs from key regions may switch sides if overlooked," a political analyst commented.

In South Chhotanagpur, tribal MLAs are carefully weighing their political options.

They recognize the risk of losing relevance if their party favors new candidates.

Local BJP and Congress leaders have acknowledged the potential for internal dissent.

However, they express confidence in their party members’ loyalty to final decisions.
