JAMSHEDPUR – A man, Abdul Salim (65), was murdered in the Kapali OP area near Jamshedpur on Tuesday, just ahead of his daughter’s wedding.

According to reports, Abdul Salim was killed by his former son-in-law, Faiyaz Ansari, using a digging tool.

The incident followed news of Salim’s daughter remarrying after a divorce.

Salim’s daughter had married Faiyaz a few months ago, but the marriage ended in divorce just a week later.

However, hearing about Saika’s upcoming wedding, Faiyaz became enraged and went to the family’s home in Islamnagar, Baba Gundi.

Abdul Salim, who was resting on a cot outside the house, was attacked by Faiyaz with a "gaita" (digging tool).

The attacker fled the scene after the murder.

Police from the local Kapali outpost arrived and are currently investigating the case.

The body remains at the scene while preparations for Saika’s wedding, scheduled for October 9, continue.
