KSMS Jyoti Club Celebrates Vrikshabandhan, Ties Rakhis to Trees

Students honor nature and Chipko Movement in unique Rakshabandhan observance

Kerala Samajam Model School’s Jyoti Club marks Vrikshabandhan, tying rakhis to trees in a nature conservation gesture.

JAMSHEDPUR – Students at Kerala Samajam Model School celebrated Vrikshabandhan, tying handmade rakhis to trees as a tribute to nature.

The Jyoti Club of Kerala Samajam Model School (KSMS) organized a unique celebration on the eve of Rakshabandhan.

Students participated in Vrikshabandhan, an event highlighting their commitment to nature conservation.

The celebration involved crafting handmade rakhis and purchasing rakhis made by students from Kerala Samajam Hindi School.

In a symbolic gesture, these rakhis were tied to trees on the school grounds.

This act represented the students’ gratitude towards nature for its protective role against harsh weather conditions.

The event also served as a tribute to the Chipko Movement, emphasizing the importance of environmental preservation.

"By tying rakhis to trees, we’re not just celebrating a festival, but also pledging our commitment to protect our environment," explained Ananya Sharma, a student participant.

Principal Ms. Nandini Shukla expressed her pride in the students’ initiative, stating, "This celebration beautifully combines our cultural traditions with crucial environmental awareness."

The event was meticulously planned and executed under the guidance of Principal Shukla and Club Moderators Sneha Kumari and Prabhsimran Kaur.

Through this creative approach, the school aims to instill a sense of responsibility towards nature in its students.

The Vrikshabandhan celebration at KSMS serves as an inspiring example of how traditional festivals can be reimagined to address contemporary environmental concerns.
