Police Crack Down on Deadly Counterfeit Liquor Trade

SSP Kaushal orders city-wide raids; two arrested with 40 liters of fake alcohol

Jamshedpur authorities launch a major crackdown on illegal country liquor, which poses increased health risks during the rainy season.

JAMSHEDPUR – Local police have initiated a city-wide operation against illegal liquor traders following directives from SSP Kishore Kaushal to combat the dangerous counterfeit alcohol trade.

The crackdown comes as adulterated liquor becomes more lethal during rainy seasons.

Counterfeit alcohol often contains toxic substances like anti-freeze, nail polish remover, and paint stripper.

These dangerous additives can cause blindness, disability, or even death.

A recent raid resulted in the arrest of two individuals at highway liquor shops.

Police seized 40 liters of fake foreign liquor during the operation.

These counterfeit products were intended for distribution to hotels along the highway.

Symptoms of fake alcohol consumption include confusion, vomiting, irregular breathing, and unconsciousness.

Other signs are blue or pale skin, hypothermia, and potential coma.

Legally produced alcohol contains ethanol, which is safe in moderation.

However, illegal manufacturers often substitute ethanol with toxic chemicals to cut costs.

Smugglers frequently disguise counterfeit liquor as popular Indian and English brands.

This deception involves mixing rectified spirit with water to mimic authentic products.

SSP Kaushal has ordered all district police stations to intensify efforts against illegal liquor operations.

Authorities are collaborating closely with the Excise Department to ensure public safety.

Previous raids have uncovered similar illegal activities, highlighting the ongoing nature of this dangerous trade.
