Snake Bite Claims 4-Year-Old’s Life in East Singhbhum

Family struggles with medical expenses as mother survives, son contracts malaria

A tragic snake bite incident in Kowali, East Singhbhum, led to the death of a young girl and hospitalization of her mother and brother.

JAMSHEDPUR – A four-year-old girl died from a snake bite in Kowali, East Singhbhum, while her mother survived and her brother was hospitalized with malaria.

Manisha Sardar, aged 4, and her mother Binoti were bitten by a snake on July 22 in Kowali, East Singhbhum district.

The father, Abhinath Sardar, initially sought help from a local exorcist instead of medical professionals.

As their conditions worsened, both were rushed to MGM Hospital, but Manisha tragically passed away en route.

Binoti received treatment at the hospital for five days.

Adding to the family’s misfortune, Abhinath’s three-year-old son contracted malaria and was also admitted to MGM Hospital.

Financial constraints prevented Abhinath from arranging his daughter’s post-mortem for five days after her death.

Despite holding a red card, Abhinath received no financial assistance for the medical expenses.

He spent Rs 1,000 on ambulance charges and Rs 3,000 for transporting his daughter’s body.

Abhinath sought help from local officials, including MLA Sanjeev Sardar, Gram Pradhan Uday Hansda, and Mukhiya Saraswati Murmu, but received no support.

The struggling laborer from Roteda in Kowali lives with his wife and five children.
