JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur ADJ-1 court proceeds with high-profile mob violence case, recording statements from all 25 accused.

The court of ADJ-1 Vimlesh Kumar Sahay heard statements from 25 individuals accused in the 2017 Nagadih mob lynching case on Friday.

All defendants maintained their innocence in the brutal attack that claimed four lives, including two brothers and their grandmother.

"The court has scheduled August 7 for the presentation of defense evidence," a legal source stated.

The incident occurred on May 18, 2017, when villagers in Nagadih, suspecting child theft, attacked the victims with bricks and stones.

Vikas and Gautam Verma, their grandmother Ramsakhi Devi, and friend Gangesh Gupta lost their lives in the violent assault.

"The police were present but couldn’t control the mob," recounted a witness to the tragic event.

Uttam Verma, brother of the deceased, reported that the attack stemmed from an argument over identification during a community sanitation project.

The case implicates 25 accused, including local Mukhiya Rajaram Hansda, with some suspects still evading arrest.
