JAMSHEDPUR – Two men were apprehended while attempting to steal an air pump from an Indian Oil petrol station in Jyakan, Saraikela-Kharsawan district.

The incident occurred late at night at the Indian Oil petrol pump in Jyakan, under the jurisdiction of Gamharia police station in Saraikela-Kharsawan district.

Two young men, reportedly from Karandih and Bagbera areas of Jamshedpur, arrived at the station in a red Sumo vehicle.

The duo attempted to make off with an air-filling machine installed at the pump.

Alert staff members spotted the thieves in action and promptly gave chase.

"We noticed something suspicious and immediately acted to protect our property," said Rajesh Kumar, a petrol pump employee who participated in the chase.

The quick-thinking employees managed to apprehend the suspects before they could escape.

Local authorities were immediately notified, and the police took both individuals into custody.

The red Sumo vehicle used in the attempted theft has been seized by law enforcement for further investigation.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by businesses in the area and the importance of community vigilance.
