A building collapse in Jharkhand’s Deoghar resulted in at least 3 fatalities and several injuries.

DEOGHAR – A three-storey building near Sita Hotel in Deoghar collapsed early Sunday morning around 5 AM, leading to the death of at least 3 persons.

The first victim, identified as Manish Kumar, succumbed to injuries during treatment.

Rescue Efforts Still Underway

Rescue teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and district administration, arrived at the scene promptly soon after they received the information.

According to information received, four people have been rescued so far, with two sustaining minor injuries.

An NDRF official stated, “We are working tirelessly to ensure everyone is brought out safely.”

Trapped Victims and Ongoing Operations

According to information being received from the site, several individuals are still feared to be trapped under the debris.

Efforts are still ongoing to rescue them.

Deoghar DC and other officials are present at the site, overseeing the entire rescue operations.

The DC remarked, “This is a tragic incident. An investigation will be conducted, but for now our priority is to rescue those trapped.”

Causes of the Collapse

According to locals, heavy rainfall in the area and ongoing renovation work may have contributed to the collapse.

According to sources, the building’s owner was renovating the ground floor to open a hotel.

Reports suggest that walls and pillars were also being demolished during the renovation, compromising the structure’s integrity.

Community Response and Historical Context

Local residents initiated the rescue before the authorities arrived at the site.

MP Nishikant Dubey mentioned that the permanent presence of an NDRF team in Deoghar, following a past incident, facilitated a swift response.

He added, “This preparedness helped us start the rescue operation quickly.”

Medical Aid and Support

Injured individuals have been transported to district Sadar Hospital for treatment.

Dr. Dubey has coordinated with the AIIMS Deoghar director too to ensure proper medical care for the injured.

Hospital authorities assured that adequate bed arrangements and medical support are already in place.

Current Status and Future Measures

The rescue operation is ongoing, with hopes to bring out all the trapped individuals safely.

Government officials said that they are committed to investigating the incident thoroughly and preventing future occurrences.
