Residents of Telco Submit Memorandum to DC to Save Jemco Ground

Locals Urge DC to Intervene in Saving Jemco Ground from Industrial Use

Residents of Telco’s Jemco area submitted a memorandum to the district commissioner on Wednesday, seeking intervention to save the local ground from being repurposed for industrial use.

JAMSHEDPUR – On Wednesday, the residents of Telco’s Jemco area presented a memorandum to the district commissioner, expressing their concerns about the potential loss of their local ground to industrial use.

The residents informed the DC that on June 1, they had discussed the issue with the former Jamshedpur MP Dr. Ajoy Kumar.

Dr. Kumar had advised them to hold discussions with the district commissioner and the MD of Tata Steel UISL (formerly JUSCO) to protect the ground.

The DC assured the residents that a meeting with Tata Steel officials and the local community would be arranged soon.

However, the residents claimed, when they approached the MD of UISL, the management declined to hand over the ground, stating that they planned to use it for transportation purposes.

Local resident Anil Kumar expressed the need for intensified efforts to save the ground, warning that without it, the community would suffer from increased pollution and the risk of accidents.

Anil Kumar stated, “We must strengthen our movement to save this ground. If we fail, our community will face significant environmental and safety issues.”

The residents are determined to continue their fight, seeking support from local authorities and the broader community.

The potential loss of the Jemco ground has become a pressing issue for the residents, who rely on it for recreational and community activities.

The DC’s assurance of a meeting with Tata Steel officials brings hope, but the community remains vigilant and prepared to escalate their efforts if necessary.
