Gram Pradhans Pledge to Eradicate Child Marriage
A district-level workshop focused on eradicating child marriage and fostering child-friendly villages was organized by Youth Unity for Voluntary Action (Yuva) at Imperial Resort in Tentla Panchayat of Potka block.
JAMSHEDPUR – Under the aegis of social organization Youth Unity for Voluntary Action (Yuva), a one-day district-level workshop was held at Imperial Resort in Tentla Panchayat of Potka block.
Gram Pradhans from 11 blocks participated in the event.
The workshop, conducted by Jyoti Pinguwa, Project Coordinator of the Girls First Fund Project, educated the Gram Pradhans on the concept and harmful effects of child marriage.
Discussions included the responsibilities of the government and community in education, health, violence prevention, and social issues related to child marriage.
The practices concerning child marriage in the community were also examined.
Yuva’s Secretary, Barnali Chakraborty, emphasized the role of Gram Pradhans in raising awareness about child marriage, forced marriage, and early marriage.
Chakraborty inspired the village leaders to work towards making their villages child-friendly.
During the workshop, Gram Pradhans were informed about child rights and the importance of creating a supportive environment for children.
By the end of the session, all participating village heads pledged to transform their villages into child-friendly communities.
