Health Deteriorates During Polling Duty, Dies En Route to Ranchi for Treatment

In a tragic turn of events, Dinesh Ravidas, a 48-year-old assistant teacher at Utkramit Prathmik Vidyalaya Dholbazza, who was serving as a polling worker in the Rajmahal Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand, passed away while being transported to Ranchi for medical treatment.

RANCHI – The Rajmahal Lok Sabha elections, which concluded on June 1, have been marred by the untimely demise of Dinesh Ravidas, an assistant teacher and polling worker.

Ravidas, who was stationed at polling station number-83, Utkramit Madhya Vidyalaya Bariyarpur of Barhet assembly constituency, experienced a deterioration in his health during the voting process.

The health department team swiftly responded to the situation, admitting Ravidas to the Primary Health Center, Damruhat (Sundarpahari) in Godda district, where he received initial treatment.

Condition Worsens, Referred to Ranchi

However, on Sunday, Ravidas’s condition took a turn for the worse, prompting the treating doctor to refer him to Ranchi for further medical attention.

As he was being transported by ambulance, tragedy struck near Jamtara, where Ravidas succumbed to his ailment.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Dinesh Ravidas, who was serving his duty as a polling worker, said an official. He added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time."

Family Receives Body After Post-Mortem

Ravidas’s family brought his body to Godda, where a post-mortem examination was conducted on Monday. Following the procedure, the body was handed over to the grieving family.

The deceased, who had been working as a teacher since 2006, is survived by his wife, four daughters, and a son.

The news of his passing has sent shockwaves through the teaching community, with the Block President of Jharkhand State Assistant Teachers Association, Prakash Bhan Rai, and other members expressing their profound grief.

Last Rites to be Performed in Native Village

Ravidas’s body was transported to his native village, Gangatia, in the Rajmahal block at around 3 pm on Monday. The family is set to perform his last rites, bidding a final farewell to a dedicated educator and public servant.

The tragic incident has cast a shadow over the Rajmahal Lok Sabha elections, serving as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by those who work tirelessly to ensure the smooth functioning of the democratic process.
