NIT Jamshedpur Students Set to Launch Solar-Powered Vehicle, Revolutionizing Green Transportation

Eco-Friendly Solar Vehicle by Team Revanta to Make Commercial Debut Soon

In a groundbreaking endeavor, students from NIT Jamshedpur are set to launch a solar-powered vehicle, marking a significant leap in green transportation technology.

JAMSHEDPUR – The student team Revanta from NIT Jamshedpur has designed a solar-powered vehicle poised to revolutionize the automotive industry with its sustainable approach.

Amidst the dominance of petrol, diesel, and battery-operated vehicles, this innovation heralds a new era of eco-friendly mobility.

The vehicle is equipped with a solar panel on its upper surface, allowing it to harness solar energy for continuous recharging without conventional electricity.

This sustainable solution not only reduces carbon emissions but also exemplifies environmental stewardship.

Operating at a speed of 25 km per hour, the solar-powered vehicle is the result of years of dedicated research and development by students across various academic batches.

The student-led company, Revanta Private Limited, plans to make this hybrid solar vehicle’s commercial debut.

With support from the institute and a robust business plan, the student entrepreneurs envision establishing a Jamshedpur-based solar electric vehicle manufacturing enterprise.

Initial projections estimate earnings of Rs 30 lakh in the first year alone.

The venture aims to target diverse market segments, focusing on supplying solar electric vehicles to national parks and wildlife sanctuaries across the country.

The initiative seeks to meet the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions in the tourism sector.

In the first phase, the solar-powered vehicles will be introduced for safari experiences, offering tourists an eco-friendly alternative for wildlife excursions.

Subsequent phases will involve further refining the technology and expanding its applications beyond tourism.

The project highlights the innovative spirit and environmental consciousness of NIT Jamshedpur’s student community.

Thirty students are actively engaged in the development of the hybrid solar vehicle under Team Revanta’s leadership.

Their collaborative efforts underscore the potential for transformative change in environmental protection and sustainable transportation.
