BJP Expels Pawan Singh for Contesting Independently in Karakat

Bhojpuri singer Pawan Singh ousted from BJP for defying party by running as an independent candidate.

BJP takes action against Singh for undermining party discipline and tarnishing its image.

PATNA – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled Bhojpuri singer-turned-politician Pawan Singh for contesting as an independent candidate in the Karakat Lok Sabha constituency, contrary to the party’s directive.

Pawan Singh had announced his intention to run independently for the Karakat seat, leading to his expulsion.

Anti-Party Activities

The Bihar BJP issued a letter to Singh, stating that his decision to contest against the official National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate violated party discipline.

The letter emphasized that such actions tarnished the party’s image and were considered anti-party activities.

As a result, Singh was expelled based on the orders of the State President.

Bihar BJP President and Deputy Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary, commented on the situation, noting that contesting against the party leads to such disciplinary actions.

Upcoming Karakat Election

The Karakat constituency is set to vote on June 1 during the seventh and final phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

The NDA has nominated Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief Upendra Kushwaha as its candidate for the seat.

Pawan Singh had previously been offered a BJP ticket to contest from Asansol in West Bengal, but he declined to run for that seat.
