Supreme Court Directs ED to Submit Reply by Tuesday in Hemant Soren’s Money Laundering Case

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who is currently jailed on money laundering charges linked to a land scam in Ranchi, has not received any relief from the Supreme Court as of now.

RANCHI – The Supreme Court has instructed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to file its response by Tuesday in the ongoing money laundering case against former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

The ED failed to submit its reply on Friday, leading to the court’s directive.

Soren’s petition was heard by a bench comprising Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal and advocate on record Pragya Singh Baghel represented Soren in court.

Soren approached the Supreme Court challenging an order from the Jharkhand High Court.

He has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the apex court seeking relief.

The case pertains to allegations of money laundering through a land scam in Ranchi, which has led to Soren’s imprisonment.

The bench, after hearing the arguments, directed the ED to file its reply by the specified deadline.

This delay by the ED has prolonged the wait for a decision in Soren’s case.

The Supreme Court’s direction indicates the seriousness with which it is handling the matter.

The former CM’s legal team argued that the High Court’s order warranted a re-evaluation.

The case has attracted significant attention due to the involvement of a high-profile political figure.

Soren’s legal team remains hopeful for a favorable outcome in the Supreme Court.

The bench’s directive aims to expedite the legal process and ensure a timely resolution.

Observers are keenly watching the developments in this case, given its implications for Soren’s political career.

The ED’s response on Tuesday will be crucial in determining the next steps in the case.

The legal proceedings continue to unfold as Soren awaits a decision from the apex court.
