Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Addresses Economic Development in Ranchi

FM Highlights Corruption, Migration, and Anarchy as Major Challenges Faced by Jharkhand

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman arrived in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, to participate in a discussion on economic development organized by the Federation Chamber, where she emphasized the need for change in the state’s governance.

RANCHI – Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, was warmly welcomed by BJP state president Babulal Marandi, outgoing Ranchi MP and BJP candidate Sanjay Seth, and others upon her arrival in Ranchi to attend an economic development discussion hosted by the Federation Chamber.

During her address, Sitharaman pointed out that Jharkhand is grappling with widespread corruption, migration, and anarchy, which have taken a toll on the state’s progress.

She stressed that a change in the state’s governance is crucial at this juncture.

Refuting claims that the Central Government treats Jharkhand unfairly, Sitharaman highlighted that strengthening industries in the North-Eastern region of India can transform it into an engine of development.

She noted that Jharkhand, once among the top five states in ease of doing business, is now plagued by jungle rule.

The Finance Minister emphasized that improving law and order is essential to attract investment and open up opportunities for growth.

Sitharaman dismissed opposition allegations, stating that Jharkhand was allocated a record Rs 7200 crore for railway projects in the 2024-2025 budget.

The Finance Minister’s meeting with prominent Jharkhand businessman Vishnu Aggarwal has sparked controversy and heated up state politics.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) took a jibe at the meeting on social media, implying that the public is well aware of the "leela of Vishnu-Babu."

Speculations are rife regarding the meeting, given Aggarwal’s previous arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which falls under the purview of the Finance Department.

Babulal Marandi was also present at the program, where Sitharaman participated as the chief guest.

The meeting between the Finance Minister and the businessman has drawn attention and raised questions about its implications for Jharkhand’s political landscape.
