Jharkhand Experiences Slight Relief from Intense Heat, 13 Districts Still Above 40°C

Seraikela Records Highest Temperature at 42.9°C, Jamshedpur Registers 41.4°C Maximum

The state of Jharkhand experienced a marginal respite from the scorching heat on Saturday, with slightly lower temperatures observed in most districts, including the Kolhan Region, offering a brief reprieve from the intense weather conditions.

RANCHI – Despite the slight dip in temperatures across Jharkhand on Saturday, 13 districts continued to grapple with the sweltering heat, recording temperatures surpassing the 40-degree Celsius mark.

Seraikela emerged as the hottest district in the state, with the mercury soaring to an unbearable 42.9 degrees Celsius, while Jamshedpur registered a maximum temperature of 41.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.2 degrees Celsius.

Other districts in Jharkhand, such as Daltonganj, Bokaro, Deoghar, Garhwa, Godda, Jamtara, Baharagora, Pakur, Palamu, Ramgarh, Simdega, and West Singhbhum, also reeled under the heatwave conditions, with temperatures consistently breaching the 40-degree Celsius threshold.

The Kolhan Region, encompassing West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, Seraikela, Sahebganj, Godda, Pakur, Dumka, Deoghar, Jamtara, Dhanbad, and Bokaro districts, is bracing itself for hot winds and humid conditions on Sunday, further exacerbating the discomfort of the residents.

However, the state is expected to witness a change in weather patterns starting from Monday, with various parts of Jharkhand likely to experience rain accompanied by thunderstorms, providing much-needed relief from the oppressive heat.

The meteorological department has advised residents to take necessary precautions to safeguard themselves from the adverse effects of the heatwave, such as staying hydrated, avoiding direct exposure to the sun during peak hours, and seeking shelter in cooler environments.

The state government has also taken measures to mitigate the impact of the heatwave on the population, particularly the vulnerable sections of society, by setting up relief centers and ensuring the availability of essential services.

As Jharkhand eagerly awaits the arrival of the monsoon season, the prospect of rain and thunderstorms in the coming days brings a glimmer of hope and respite from the relentless heat that has gripped the state in recent weeks.
