Jamshedpur Women’s University Excels in Jharkhand Voting Awareness Contest

Journalism and Mass Communication Department Wins Second Place with Innovative Reel

The Journalism and Mass Communication Department at Jamshedpur Women’s University (JWU) has clinched second place in the prestigious Jharkhand Voting Awareness Reel Contest.

JAMSHEDPUR – Highlighting the importance of civic engagement, the Journalism and Mass Communication Department of Jamshedpur Women’s University recently achieved significant recognition by securing second place in a statewide voting awareness competition.

Organized by the Election Commission, the contest aimed to bolster voting awareness among students, encouraging them to exercise their electoral rights through various creative mediums such as short films, reels, posters, and music videos.

The CEO of the Jharkhand Election Commission emphasized the critical role of voting in democracy and lauded the efforts of students in promoting this fundamental civic duty.

Out of 200 submissions, 10 reels were shortlisted, with Jamshedpur Women’s University standing out for their impactful content, earning them a prestigious institutional award.

Prof. (Dr.) Anjila Gupta, Vice Chancellor of Jamshedpur Women’s University, praised the students for their achievement and reiterated the importance of voting as a national duty.

The award-winning reel was developed under the guidance of faculty member Shalini Prasad and was a collaborative effort by students Varsha Kumari, Bhumika Singh, Madhumita Bera, and Joyshree Gorai.

This project not only showcased their creative talents but also underscored the significance of using media as a tool for social awareness.

This accolade highlights the university’s commitment to fostering an environment where academic pursuits and societal contributions go hand in hand.
