East Singhbhum Announces Paid Polling Day Leave to Boost Voter Turnout

Ananya Mittal Orders Paid Leave for All on Lok Sabha Election Day, Aiming for Higher Voter Participation

In a major initiative to enhance voter turnout, East Singhbhum District Election Officer Ananya Mittal has decreed paid leave for all eligible voters on the upcoming Lok Sabha Election Day.

JAMSHEDPUR – All employees in East Singhbhum will receive paid leave on 25 May 2024, the scheduled polling day, as directed by District Election Officer Ananya Mittal.

The groundbreaking decision covers workers across all sectors, ensuring no financial penalty for taking leave to vote.

Businesses, including shops and malls, will close, guaranteeing that every voter has the opportunity to participate without conflict.

Daily wage workers and casual laborers are also included, promoting inclusive voter participation across economic statuses.

Exemptions apply only to those whose absence might risk public safety or significant loss.

Authorities like the Deputy Labor Commissioner and Assistant Director of Employment Office are tasked with enforcing this mandate strictly.

Violations of the order are subject to legal action under the Representation of the People Act 1951.

This policy represents a significant push towards democratizing voter access and emphasizes the district’s commitment to a robust democratic process.
