Mittal rallies corporate support for enhanced electoral accessibility and awareness in upcoming Lok Sabha elections

In an influential meeting convened by District Election Officer Ananya Mittal in Jamshedpur, a robust plan was laid out to ensure an inclusive and participatory approach to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Key corporate stakeholders and government officials gathered at the Collectorate Auditorium to discuss critical electoral enhancements.

JAMSHEDPUR – District Election Officer Ananya Mittal, alongside key officials and representatives from various private companies, convened a significant meeting focused on enhancing electoral accessibility and voter registration.

The meeting highlighted the need for wheelchairs at polling stations and the importance of private sector involvement in this initiative through CSR activities.

Mittal also stressed the importance of comprehensive voter registration for private sector employees, with a campaign planned from April 22 to April 24 to address this.

Moreover, the legal provision for paid leave on election day was discussed, with an emphasis on ensuring that employees intending to vote are registered.

Mittal’s call to action included urging company representatives to promote voter education and awareness, targeting a well-informed electorate for the voting day on May 25th.

Corporate Response and Commitment

The meeting saw participation from major companies such as GAIL, HCL, Tata Power, and Tata Motors, which underscores the business community’s role in supporting democratic processes.

These companies, along with others like Tata Steel, Tata Cummins, and Nuvoco, expressed their commitment to mobilize resources and engage in awareness campaigns, reinforcing their dedication to corporate social responsibility.

The strategy to deploy wheelchairs at polling stations is aimed at ensuring that differently-abled citizens can vote without hindrance.
