JAMSHEDPUR – A severe forest fire has been raging through the mountain forests from Durgadih village to Kantabani village in the Matiyabandhi Panchayat of Chakulia block for the last two days.

The Sal forest on the mountain is ablaze, causing extensive smoke coverage and posing a significant threat to the local wildlife, including various species of animals and birds.

Despite the ongoing emergency, the forest department remains unaware of the fire, which has allowed it to burn unchecked since it began on Saturday.

Neither the Forest Protection Committee nor the Forest Department personnel have yet taken steps to address or extinguish the fire.

As a result, the entire mountain continues to be consumed by flames and smoke, with no immediate measures being implemented to combat the situation.
