JNAC Launches Anti-Encroachment Drive In Sakchi, Fines Collected From Shopkeepers

Officials warn of continued action, cite transportation problems caused by encroachments on footpaths

The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) launched a campaign to remove encroachments in the Sakchi area on Wednesday, targeting the V2 region on Sakchi Main Road and the Mango Plantation area.

JAMSHEDPUR – The arrival of JNAC’s special officer Arvind Tirkey, accompanied by the flying squad and JCB machines, caused panic among the shopkeepers in the area.

Many shopkeepers took it upon themselves to remove their encroachments to avoid action by the authorities.

The JNAC’s JCB machines demolished publicity boards placed on the road outside shops and showrooms, while carts were also removed from the area.

All the seized goods were loaded onto tractors and transported to the JNAC office.

"We have collected fines ranging from ₹500 to ₹4000 from the shopkeepers who had encroached upon public space," stated a JNAC official.

The officials warned that the drive to remove encroachments would continue in the future.

"Shopkeepers often keep their goods on the footpaths, which causes problems for transportation. This is why we have launched this anti-encroachment campaign," the official added.

The move by the JNAC aims to clear the footpaths and roads of unauthorized structures and goods, ensuring smooth flow of traffic and pedestrian movement in the Sakchi area.

Shopkeepers have been advised to refrain from encroaching upon public spaces to avoid further fines and action by the authorities.
