Khare Takes Over from Rohit Kumar Singh, Bringing Extensive Experience to the Role

Nidhi Khare, a distinguished IAS officer from the Jharkhand cadre, took charge as the Secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, on Monday, following the retirement of her predecessor, Rohit Kumar Singh.

RANCHI – In a significant administrative development, Nidhi Khare, a seasoned IAS officer from the Jharkhand cadre, assumed office as the Secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India

Khare’s appointment to this crucial role was announced last month, and she formally took charge on Monday, succeeding Rohit Kumar Singh, who retired from the position.

Prior to her elevation, Khare had been serving as the Additional Secretary in the Consumer Affairs Department, bringing her wealth of experience and expertise to the role.

As part of her new responsibilities, Khare will initially serve as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) within the department, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity in the department’s functioning.

Throughout her illustrious career, Nidhi Khare has held several key positions in the Jharkhand state administration, including serving as the Principal Secretary of the Health and Commercial Tax Department and the District Collector (DC) of Jamshedpur, Dumka, and Madhubani.

Khare’s track record is marked by the successful implementation of numerous government policies at both the state and central levels, highlighting her ability to navigate complex administrative challenges and drive positive change.

As she takes the helm of the Department of Consumer Affairs, Nidhi Khare’s extensive experience and proven leadership skills are expected to play a vital role in advancing the department’s mission of protecting consumer rights and promoting fair trade practices.
