Confusion Over Fatalities in Jhajha-Asansol Train Accident

Reports emerge of a tragic incident near Kaljharia station in Jamtara, with casualties feared after a train accident.

RANCHI – A grave train incident near Kaljharia station in Jamtara has led to fatalities and injuries, causing alarm among authorities and locals.

The Eastern Railway CPRO Kaushik Mitra clarified there was no fire incident aboard the train, countering earlier reports of panic among passengers due to a fire alert.

This misinformation had led some passengers to disembark onto the tracks, resulting in a tragic collision with the Jhajha-Asansol train.

Local administration officials have swiftly responded, ensuring the injured receive immediate medical care. Jamtara SDM Ananth Kumar confirmed the recovery of two bodies, identifying the victims as Manish Kumar and Sikandar Kumar, both hailing from Bihar.

Eyewitness accounts depict a chaotic scene, with personal belongings and shoes strewn along the track, underscoring the severity of the accident.

Contrary to initial reports, most affected individuals were linked to the Bhagalpur-Yesvantpur route.

The railway has initiated a thorough investigation into the incident, delegating a three-member committee to uncover the facts surrounding this tragic event.
