Renewable energy pact to bolster Tata Communications’ sustainability drive
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited’s collaboration with Tata Communications to establish an 18.75 MW AC group captive solar plant underscores a significant advancement in renewable energy commitment, projecting an annual reduction of over 30,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has recently enhanced its renewables portfolio, reaching a total capacity of 9,015 MW, of which 7,629 MW is secured through power purchase agreements (PPAs).
With a significant portion of its projects still in various stages of development, TPREL’s operating capacity stands at 4,271 MW.
This includes 3,244 MW from solar initiatives and 1,027 MW from wind projects.
TPREL has achieved a major milestone, surpassing a capacity of 1.5 GW in group captive projects.
This feat is attributed to the successful execution of PPAs across a wide array of industries.
The industries benefiting from these agreements span steel, polystyrene, mining, iron casting, manufacturing, hospitality, and automotive sectors.
Tata Power Renewable Energy’s focus on group captive projects aligns with India’s net-zero carbon emissions goal by 2070.
It aims to meet the unique renewable energy needs of clients across various sectors.
Mr. Manoj Tripathy from Tata Communications highlighted the partnership’s role in steering the commtech sector towards a sustainable future.
He expressed excitement over the initiative’s potential to foster a cleaner and more sustainable commtech pathway.
Mr. Deepesh Nanda of TPREL underscored the benefits of Group Captive Solar in cutting operating costs and boosting energy efficiency.
He emphasized the partnership’s role in reinforcing Tata Communications’ leadership in the digital and commtech spheres.
By adopting renewable energy, Tata Communications is committed to environmental stewardship and sustainable energy practices.
The project, estimated at ₹105 crore, is set to annually generate around 40 million units of power.
It significantly contributes to reducing carbon emissions, affirming Tata Communications’ dedication to eco-friendly energy alternatives.
Located in Aachegaon, Maharashtra, the solar plant is a stride towards reducing environmental impact and advocating sustainable business practices.
The collaboration was facilitated through Nivade Windfarm Limited, a special purpose vehicle (SPV).
TPREL’s partnership with Tata Communications marks a strategic move to support the latter’s transition to renewable energy.
