NIT Jamshedpur Hosts Grand Inter NIT Sports Tournament
Jamshedpur’s NIT saw an exciting conclusion to the All India Inter NIT Sports Tournament, spotlighting the country’s emerging sports talents.
JAMSHEDPUR – The All India Inter NIT Sports Tournament wrapped up on February 4th at NIT Jamshedpur, marking the end of an eventful three-day sports extravaganza.
The closing ceremony celebrated the achievements of participants across various sports, including chess, tennis, and yoga, with winners receiving trophies and certificates.
A total of 540 students from 24 NITs across the nation competed, showcasing their skills in a spirited display of sportsmanship.
The tournament featured intense competition among 117 male and 69 female table tennis players, highlighting the high level of skill and dedication among the participants.
Chess enthusiasts also had their moment, with 110 boys and 74 girls vying for top honors in a game that tests mental agility and strategic thinking.
The event was graced by the presence of Railway SP Mr. Rishabh Jha during the table tennis semi-finals on February 3rd, offering encouragement to the athletes.
Yoga competitions concluded on the second day, with 85 female students participating, reflecting the sport’s growing popularity and its recognition as an integral part of holistic well-being.
Professor R.V. Sharma, the institute’s Director (I/C), enlightened attendees on the multifaceted nature of yoga, emphasizing its importance as a lifestyle, a therapeutic system, and a spiritual practice.
The inaugural ceremony on February 2nd saw Seraikela Deputy Commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla officially open the tournament, setting the stage for a memorable sports meet.
This year’s tournament saw 312 boys and 228 girls from different NITs across the country converge on Jamshedpur, demonstrating their prowess in chess, tennis, and yoga.
