War of Words Again Over Sidhgora Surya Mandir

The Sidhgora Surya Mandir Committee and MLA Saryu Roy’s supporters embroiled in a heated dispute over the temple’s construction projects and land use.

Tensions rise again as Surya Mandir Committee and MLA Saryu Roy’s supporters cross swords over Sidhgora Surya Mandir construction, allegations of misrepresentation, and land use.

JAMSHEDPUR – A war of words has erupted between supporters of MLA Saryu Roy and members of the Sidhgora Surya Mandir Committee in Jamshedpur.

The controversy centers around the construction of sports facilities at the Sidhgora Surya Mandir complex, including Shankh Maidan.

The Surya Mandir Committee has accused MLA Roy and his supporters of spreading false statements and rumors.

Committee President Bhupendra Singh alleges that Roy is masking anti-religious activities with baseless claims against the committee.

According to Singh, the committee has long been dedicated to maintaining and securing the temple complex, which includes various temples, Chhath Ghats, and a children’s park.

He refutes any accusations of land grabbing, labeling them as baseless and unrealistic.

Singh accuses Roy camp of attempting to tarnish the area’s spiritual significance by proposing its conversion into a playground.

He contrasts Roy’s actions with former Chief Minister Raghubar Das’s efforts in enhancing religious sites in Jamshedpur.

Roy’s plans to shift the Shankh Maidan’s conch too are seen as misleading by Singh, who explains the rock’s natural formation was shaped into a conical form.

On the other hand, Vijay Narayan, President of the Bharatiya Jantantra Morcha’s Sidhgora Mandal, has called for an investigation into the alleged misuse of funds allocated for the temple’s boundary wall.

He questions the expenditure of Rs 15 lakh provided by MP Mahesh Poddar, demanding accountability from the Surya Mandir Committee’s Chairman.

Narayan emphasizes the need to uphold the temple’s dignity and accuses the committee of misusing government land and funds for private gains.

He charged the other camp of stepping on the Shankh Maidan conch and reiterated that the land is a public asset, dismissing claims of exclusive rights by the committee.

Narayan asserted that the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) will regulate programs at Shankh Maidan, challenging the committee’s longstanding control over the site.
