Jamshedpur Parents Protest Alleged RTE Violations by Private Schools

Parents under Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh are raising voice against the alleged violations of RTE-2009 by Motilal Nehru Public School and Dayanand Public School.

JAMSHEDPUR – A group of parents, whose children are enrolled in private schools under the Right to Education Act (RTE)-2009, staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday under the direction of Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh President, Umesh Kumar.

During the protest, the Sangh handed over a note to the Deputy Commissioner, District Education Officer, and District Superintendent of Education, registering a complaint against two municipal schools – Motilal Nehru Public School (MNPS) in the Northern Town of Bistupur and Dayanand Public School (DPS) on Tapti Road, Sakchi.

Umesh Kumar claimed that the aforementioned schools had violated the provisions of the RTE and the new education policy, demanding an immediate investigation and subsequent penalization.

The protesters alleged that both the institutions denied registration for the board examination to students from the economically weaker sections and disadvantaged groups in class IX. Furthermore, they claimed that these schools were charging fees from these students, who had previously studied under the RTE.
