Jharkhand’s Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved the identification of 413 agitators within the state.
RANCHI – Chief Minister Hemant Soren has greenlit the identification of 413 individuals deemed as agitators of Jharkhand separate state movement.
The process, currently under the purview of the Home, Jail, and Disaster Management Department, is ongoing, with more to be identified in the future.
The identified agitators hail from various districts across Jharkhand. A substantial 132 have been located in Deoghar, while 47 originate from Ranchi and 43 from Giridih. On the other hand, only two have been identified from Latehar.
Agitator Distribution
The identified agitators include 20 from Bokaro, 132 from Deoghar, 12 from Dhanbad, 43 from Giridih, 19 from Godda, 33 from Gumla, 23 from Hazaribagh, 13 from Koderma, 2 from Latehar, 29 from Lohardaga, 8 from Ramgarh, 47 from Ranchi, 10 from Sahibganj, and 22 from Seraikela.
Support for the Agitators’ Statehood Struggle
The Government said that the Chief Minister Soren has been keen on recognizing the struggle of the agitators since his administration took office.
The government said that this commitment is evident in his previous decisions to reconstitute the Agitator Marking Commission, provide monthly pensions and other amenities to agitators or their dependents, and ensure the benefits reach the dependents of deceased agitators who fought for Jharkhand’s separate state formation.
