JAMSHEDPUR – Today, the city is marking Hul Kranti Diwas.

On this day, June 30, 1855, a revolt against British rule erupted under the leadership of Sido-Kanhu, Chand-Bhairav, Phulo-Jhano, and their comrades.

The rebellion was sparked to protect water, forest, and land, and resulted in the martyrdom of more than 30,000 men and women.

The freedom movement, which began from Bhognadih in the Santhal Pargana, spread across the country and paved the way for independence.

Every year, Hul Kranti Diwas is celebrated to remember those immortal martyrs.

In Jamshedpur, a variety of programs are being organized in observance of Hul Kranti Diwas.

Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy paid tribute by laying a wreath at the statue of Sido-Kanhu in Birsanagar and announced plans to turn the location into a memorial site.

On the other hand, former state Chief Minister and National Vice President of BJP, Raghubar Das, also paid tribute to Sido-Kanhu by garlanding his statue at Bhuiyandih.

Along with his tribute, he strongly criticized the state government, accusing it of prioritizing family interests over the memory of the revolutionaries.

He asserted that it was time to uproot such a government, declaring that the Bharatiya Janata Party is working toward this goal.
