JAMSHEDPUR – On World Environment Day, Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy turned the spotlight on river conservation.
He was seen leading a protest on the banks of the Gandhi Ghat river in Sakchi, aimed at protecting the Subarnarekha and Kharkai rivers.

Accompanied by supporters and representatives from various organizations, Saryu Roy and the gathering pledged to actively engage in maintaining the cleanliness of these rivers.
Their commitment extends to raising awareness and encouraging participation among city dwellers to contribute to the rivers’ cleanliness.
Roy also called on the government to prioritize these rivers’ cleanliness and remarked on the self-destructive behavior of city residents and private companies, comparing them to the mythical Bhasmasur who threaten these rivers and in turn threaten their own existence.
