Maoist Gang Collecting ‘Levy’ Arrested in West Singhbhum

West Singhbhum police apprehend a gang extorting money in the name of Maoists, arresting four with weapons.

CHAIBASA – In a significant crackdown, the district police team in West Singhbhum have arrested a gang that was collecting levies under the name of being Naxalites.

The operation resulted in four arrests, along with the seizure of weapons.

The gang had reportedly demanded levy by force from a company involved in culvert construction work on the Brahmani river in the Chakradharpur police station area about a month ago.

This led to the formation of a team under Chakradharpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Kapil Chaudhary.

Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar confirmed that the team successfully executed a raid, leading to the arrest of wanted criminals Jeetan Hansda, Subhash Dorai, Sadhu Charan Sumbrui, and Manki Jamuda.

Along with these suspects, the police also seized Naxalite pamphlets and other weapons from their possession.
