Jamshedpur: Former Tata Workers Union committee member Mohammad Ismail Azad was shot by criminals near Chepa bridge under Azadnagar police station late on Friday night.
Fortunately, the bullet hit Azad’s shoulder and he was rushed to Tata Main Hospital for treatment.
According to reports, Azad was talking to a friend when the criminals arrived on a bike and opened fire.
The attackers fled the scene after the shooting. The locals demanded that the police apprehend the culprits immediately.

Banna Gupta, the local MLA and state Health Minister, visited the hospital to inquire about Azad’s condition and directed the doctors to provide better treatment.
He also instructed the police to identify the attackers and take strict action against them.
Congress leader Firoz Khan criticized the police and said that the Azad Nagar police station area is becoming a hub for criminals, with incidents of firing and murder happening regularly.
He also claimed that drug trafficking is rampant in the area and demanded that the attackers be found promptly.

He threatened to lay siege to the Azad Nagar police station on Saturday.
