Ranchi: CP Radhakrishnan, the newly appointed Governor of Jharkhand, arrived in Ranchi on Friday, where he was greeted with flower bouquets at the Birsa Munda Airport by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Minister Alamgir Alam, Badal Patralekh, and other officials.
At the airport, the Governor was also greeted with a guard of honour.
On February 18, CP Radhakrishnan will be sworn in as the new Governor of Jharkhand, and the oath will be administered by the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court, Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh.
C P Radhakrishnan takes over as the new Governor from Ramesh Bais, who has now been appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra.
Radhakrishnan is a veteran Tamil Nadu BJP leader who has previously served as a Member of Parliament and as the Tamil Nadu BJP’s president.
He was also a member of the BJP’s National Executive and had been a member of the party since 1973, when he was 16 years old.
He ran for office on the BJP ticket and won in 1998 and 1999, but was defeated in 2004, 2012, and 2019.
He has been an active member of the party for 48 years and has extensive experience in the organization, having worked with the RSS and the Jana Sangh.
He has previously run in elections with more than 389,000 votes in Tamil Nadu against the alliance of DMK and AIADMK.
