Youth killed in landmine blast in Goilkera forest

Chaibasa: A village youth who went to collect wood in the forest has died after he came into contact with a landmine allegedly laid by the Maoists in the forest areas of Goilkera in West Singhbhum district.

According to information received, a rural youth has died after a landmine exploded when he came into its contact in the forest area.

The landmine was allegedly laid by Maoists in the forest near Chhota Kuida village in Goilkera police station area.

The incident happened yesterday and the police recovered the body of the deceased youth from the forest today.

Singrai Purti, a youth resident of Kuida village, along with his brother-in-law had gone to the Maradiri forest near the village to collect wood.

During this, Singrai came in contact with a landmine planted inside the ground.

Singrai’s brother-in-law ran away from there after the explosion.

Soon after the information of the explosion, the police and CRPF arrived at the spot.

But Singrai could not be traced till late evening yesterday.

Today, his dead body was recovered from the forest.
