Auto and taxi drivers demand a permanent stand near Jugsalai overbridge

Jamshedpur: Autorickshaw and taxi stand drivers have demanded a separate permanent taxi and auto rickshaw stand in Jugsalai near the railway overbridge under construction there.

A group of taxi and tempo drivers today submitted a memorandum to the DC Office demanding that they be accommodated with a permanent taxi and auto rickshaw stand as otherwise around a hundred people will be rendered unemployed.

A delegation of taxi and tempo drivers today went to the DC office and raised their demand. They said that owing to the construction of railway overbridge in Jugsalai and establishment of CNG Plant of GAIL at the place, they have been left without a place to do business.

They said that the district administration has been making alternative arrangements for the houses and shops demolished for constructing the overbridge. Similarly, they said, an alternative arrangement should also be made to accommodate them as otherwise several family will be rendered without a means of sustenance.

They said that the auto and taxi stand has been in existence for several years and an alternative arrangement should be made to accommodate them too.
