Medha Dairy in a soup over warning letter for distributing sweets on Ram Mandir Bhoomi Pujan

Ranchi: The Jharkhand State Co-Operative Milk producers’ Federation Limited has stirred a hornet’s nest by issuing a warning letter to one of its employees for allegedly distributing sweets on Ram Mandir Bhoomi Puja on August 5, 2020.

The issue has attracted attention on social media and many social media users are now calling for a boycott of Medha Dairy. Some have even launched the hashtag #मेधाकाबहिष्कारकरो.

This hashtag was under focus of discussion and had attracted 100 tweets by 12.48 p.m. Wednesday.

One user commented: “Iftar Party was organised in Jharkhand Medha Dairy office on Eid, and congratulatory messages were given. But, when on Ram Mandir Bhoomi Pujan someone distributed sweets in celebration, the Hemant Government and Medha Diary issued him a warning letter.”

The warning letter shared on social media is the one issued by The Jharkhand State Co-Operative Milk Producers’ Federation on August 11, 2020 to one of its executives, Saurav Singh.

The letter says: “It has been reported that you were distributing sweets at Medha Dairy Plant, Hotwar on the occasion of Ram Mandir Bhumi Pujan on 5-Aug-2020, which is a MISCONDUCT. As we (JMF) have all religions of employees and this kind of incident is against office decorum.”

It further says, “Considering this act of yours as a serious offence, you are warned and advised to make a note of the above and refrain from such act in future, failing which you will be liable for appropriate action, as deemed fit, under JMF Rules”.

The letter is signed by the Group Head (Admin & HR).

However, the entire issue has gone viral as SM users have started criticising Medha Dairy for this action. Some have even pointed out to the alleged double-standards.

Some SM users have also posted an advertisement by Medha Dairy wishing Mubarkbad on Eid.

However, there were some other users too who remarked: “Medha Dairy respects all religions. Refrain from indulging in communal hatred.”

BJP spokesman Pratul Shah Deo too has taken up the issue and has supported the call for boycott of Medha Dairy by re-tweeting the hashtag for boycott.

No official statement has been issued by Medha Dairy or the JSCMPF on this issue yet.

The issue is likely to get political turns in the days to come as BJP is all set to raise this issue in a big way.
