Transport Minister Champai Soren visits Kashidih, inspects site of proposed Motor Training Centre

Minister holds meeting with locals, project likely to hang fire as villagers stand firm on opposing it

Jamshedpur: Amidst opposition to the proposed construction of Motor Training Centre at Kashidih village in Balajuri in Pipla under the jurisdiction of MGM Police Station, the Transport and SC, ST and Backward Class Welfare Minister of Jharkhand Champai Soren today visited Kashidih and inspected the disputed site. Ghatshila MLA Ramdas Soren also accompanied him.

Later, Champai Soren said that he would soon call a meeting at the district level and try to resolve the issue.

The minister also held meeting with the locals and apprised himself with the reasons they were opposing the project.

He assured the villagers that the government would always take any decision taking the interest of the local tribals in mind.

The scheme of constructing a Motor Training Centre was conceptualised during the earstwhile Raghubar Das government.

Since the launch of the scheme, the villagers have been opposing it. They even forced the contractors to quit the project work.

There is every possibility that the opposition of the locals will again prevail and the scheme is likely to keep hanging fire.

The transport minister has said that he would get all the aspects examined before reaching any conclusion. He said that while development schemes should be implemented, it is important to keep the villagers’ object in mind too.

Champai Soren visits Kashidih village and inspects proposed site of Motor Training Centre.

It is clear, however, that the scheme may either hang fire indefinitely or may be shifted elsewhere.
