Meeting Convened to Enhance Moharda Drinking Water Supply Project

Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy hosted a meeting to improve the framework of the Moharda Drinking Water Supply Project and discuss the execution of its expanded Phase 2.

JAMSHEDPUR – Saryu Roy, the MLA for Jamshedpur East, convened a conference at the JNAC with the primary agenda of enhancing the Moharda Drinking Water Supply Project’s current framework and implementing the project’s expanded Phase 2.

Representatives from Tata Steel reported that they have successfully provided an additional 5000 drinking water connections and have legalized 3700 out of the previously illegal 6000 connections.

They are presently in the process of legalizing the remaining 2300 connections.

As part of the ongoing work, a new 7000-meter pipeline is being installed around the Moharda drinking water supply project area, which will result in an additional 1000 homes receiving drinking water connections.

Furthermore, 1500 extra connections will be made, including separating the drinking water connection pipes that had been connected to the sewers.

This will lead to around 2000 more households having access to drinking water in the Moharda project region.

Saryu Roy emphasized the need for a timely delivery of high-quality water.

For this to be accomplished, he highlighted the necessity of constructing a new settling pond, a new rising pipe, and a new GSR water tank next to the Bhuvaneshwari temple.

Roy also stressed the need for a security boundary wall and renovation of all water tanks, giving the JNAC approval to install solar lights for proper illumination around the water tank.

The establishment of instructional boards to prevent property damage and CCTV installation for future monitoring were also discussed.

The MLA suggested the possibility of building a second reservoir beneath the water tank and affirmed that households falling under the BPL category should receive free drinking water connections as per government norms.

Once Phase 2 of the Moharda Water Supply Scheme is implemented, it will provide an additional 25 MLD of drinking water.
