City Puja Committee urges Govt to allow religious sites to open

Jamshedpur Central Durga Puja Committee meets Chief Secretary of Jharkhand

Jamshedpur: A delegation of Jamshedpur Central Durga Puja Committee today met the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand Mr. Sukhdeo Singh and urged him to allow all religious places of the state to open.

The delegation also discussed with him the modalities to organise Durga Puja festival 2020 in the state.

The president of Jamshedpur Central Durga Puja Committee Chand Nath Banerjee told the Chief Secretary that Durga Puja is celebrated on a grand scale in Jamshedpur and Jharkhand, which is second only to West Bengal in grandeur and scale.

He said that in Jamshedpur city, puja pandals are made at least at 350 places.

The secretary of the Committee, Arun Singh said that religious sites have been allowed all over the country except Jharkhand.

The Chief Secretary heard the delegation and assured that the government would look into their suggestions. He said that the guidelines from the union government on Durga Puja is yet to come.

He said that he would raise the issue in the next video conference with the centre.

He said that the state government would take a decision on puja only after taking the central government guideline into consideration.

Those who were a part of the delegation included president Chand Nath Banerjee, secretary Arun Singh, Kapil Hui, Jawaharlal Ghosh and others.
