Seraikela: Second Day of Jharkhand Bandh Sees Protesters Block Major Road

Protesters opposed to the state government’s 60-40 employment policy blockade Tata-Kandra main road during the second day of Jharkhand bandh, causing significant traffic disruptions.

SERAIKELA – The two-day Jharkhand bandh called by the Jharkhandi Bhasha Khatiyani Sangharsh Samiti and United Jharkhand Student Union to protest the state government’s 60-40 employment policy saw protesters blocking the Tata-Kandra main road in front of the Kerala Public School at Gamharia in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district for about one and a half hours on Sunday.

During the demonstration, protestors chanted slogans such as "60-40 Nai Chalto, Kaise Liya Jharkhand – Ladke liya Jharkhand…" resulting in a traffic jam on the Tata-Kandra main road. Meanwhile, local police were on standby at the scene.

Despite the disruption, there were no violent incidents reported during the protest, which dispersed after around one and a half hours.

Student organizations have been steadily opposing the 60-40 employment policy introduced by the state government, claiming that its implementation infringes upon the rights of local and indigenous peoples.

They pledged to continue their resistance and agitation.
