Officials Told To Fix Attendance Gaps In Weak Blocks

SERAIKELA – Deputy Development Commissioner Reena Hansda chaired a review meeting of the district’s education department on Monday, aimed at improving the school system in Seraikela.
Officials examined student and teacher attendance, enrolment figures, APAAR ID coverage, birth certificates, ICT labs, smart classrooms and academic rankings on a block-wise basis. The meeting sought to assess the overall functioning of schools across the district.
Hansda directed officials to identify schools with low attendance and initiate corrective action there. She also called for regular monitoring of teacher attendance across all blocks.
Besides attendance issues, the DDC emphasised that children should be taught in a fear-free environment through activity-based and engaging methods. “Learning should be enjoyable and free of fear so that children stay motivated in the classroom,” she said.
In addition, officials were instructed to complete pending training programmes and other academic tasks within a fixed timeframe. Special corrective measures were ordered for blocks showing weaker academic performance.
However, the review also touched on broader efforts to strengthen the education system in the region. Meanwhile, district and block-level officials of the education department were present at the meeting.
The district has previously focused on improving its academic standing, with neighbouring East Singhbhum topping a statewide education performance review. A seminar on the education system is also scheduled to be held in Jamshedpur on September 6.
Officials in Seraikela have similarly reviewed other public services in recent weeks, including a banking outreach meeting on MSME facilities and a drain cleaning scheme probe in Gamharia. Educational institutions in the district had also marked Independence Day with programmes such as one at Vananchal College.
