WEST SINGHBHUM – Police have cracked a sensational case involving the murder of three members of a single family over a land dispute in the Tonto police station area, officials said. Two accused have been arrested in connection with the killings at Kenjara Tola Tarobburu.
Following the arrests, investigators recovered the bodies of all three victims along with a blood-stained axe used in the crime. The recoveries were made based on information provided by the two accused during questioning.
Jagannathpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rafael Murmu, announcing the case’s resolution, said the killings stemmed from an ongoing dispute over land. He said police had questioned several suspects during the investigation before narrowing in on the two accused, who were subsequently taken into custody.
According to police, the case originated from a written complaint filed at Tonto police station on August 26 by Ragmiya Dorayburu. The complaint alleged that unidentified criminals had murdered three members of the family over the land dispute and concealed their bodies.
Police launched an investigation immediately after receiving the complaint. Officers examined multiple leads before the trail led them to the two men now under arrest.
The deceased were identified as Rajin Dorayburu, around 40 years old, his wife Jano Dorayburu, around 38, and their son Kande Dorayburu, approximately 12 years old. All three were residents of Kenjara Tola Tarobburu, within the Tonto police station jurisdiction.
Police have taken custody of the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, questioning of the two arrested accused continues as investigators work to establish the complete sequence of events.
Officers said they are also examining whether any additional individuals may have been involved in planning or carrying out the killings. The probe into the broader circumstances of the land dispute remains ongoing.
