JAMSHEDPUR – Hundreds of women gathered at the Shri Shri Shiv Hanuman Temple in Babudih on Monday to mark the second Somwari of the Sawan month.

As many as 501 women participated in the special jalabhishek ceremony organised by the temple committee. They carried water from the Swarnarekha river in pitchers to the temple.

Devotees began gathering at the temple premises early in the morning. Meanwhile, the crowd grew steadily as more women arrived through the day.

The women fetched water from the river following proper rituals. They then proceeded toward the temple chanting religious hymns along the way.

Upon reaching the temple, the women performed jalabhishek of Lord Shiva. The temple complex reverberated with devotional chants throughout the ceremony.

Mohan Sahu, a member of the temple committee, said the collective jalabhishek has been organised every year by the committee. He said the event aims to strengthen religious faith among devotees.

He added that the programme also seeks to spread a message of unity and brotherhood in society. Besides Lord Shiva, devotees also offered prayers to Hanuman during the event.

Worshippers prayed for peace and prosperity in the region as part of the ritual. Members of the temple committee, along with local devotees, played a key role in organising the event.

The Sawan month holds particular religious significance for devotees of Lord Shiva across Jharkhand. Similar jalabhishek and kanwar-related events have been held at various temples in the state during the month.
